History of the Czech(oslovakian) reenacting

The goal of this thesis is to do research , as wide as possible, in the most popular part of hobby named reenacting or reenacting (Napoleonic era, Austro-Prussian Wars, American Civil War, Second World War and some new topic - Czechoslovak Peoples Army, Royal Air Force and Czechoslovak Policemen before WW2). Thats mean commemoration and re-enactment of military history and military units in whole its history from time before 1989 to the future. I tried to find grounds of this hobby and describe development of it. As I expected, progress of this hobby or movement is larger, but this hobby existed before 1989 too. Reenactors reenacted and portrayed older conflicts as Napoleonic and Austro-Prussian war. Future reenactors were mainly fencers and tramps. Year 1989 was turning point for all reenactors. Theirs hobby is legal, it is possible to travel, to unite, to ground living history groups, own weapons, speak about all part of our history. It was possible to share and search information, regulation with and in foreign countries, foreigners and archives and museums. Main goal of reenactors is to portray theirs archetypes as good as possible. Public can see not only reconstruction of battles, but open air exhibition - "very interactive museums". Inhabitants of Hlučínsko-region in the Czechoslowak foreign army in the West

The thesis deals with the almost unknown theme - the soldiers from the district of Hlucin serving in the Czechoslovakian foreign legions in the West. Using the example of the inhabitants of the Hlucin area, it shows the conditions under which the former Wermacht soldiers' recruitment to the Czechoslovakian army had taken place. It tries to give a true picture of the specifics of the participants from the district of Hlucin in the foreign revolt and to outline the possible motivation for the decision to enter the foreign legions, the way the soldiers presented themselves in front of the interrogating officers as well as different views of their evaluation from the Czechoslovakian officers' perspective. The goal of the thesis is to show the almost unknown reality of their military service besides Wehrmacht and to bring the total number and ranks of the soldiers from the district of Hlucin within the Czechoslovakian troops to light. Both the quantitative analysis based on the list of the individual soldiers and several qualitative analyses dealing mostly with military draft and interrogation documents helped to reach the goal. Besides, the fonds of various military institutions and the local Hlucin authorities were also taken into account.

Colonel Jaroslav Sommer, the fate of an ordinary soldier affected by two dictatorships

Bachelor Thesis "Colonel Jaroslav Sommer, the fate of an ordinary soldier effected by two dictatorships " attempt to descibe the lifestory of Colonel Jaroslav Sommer with use of comparison method of secondary literature and thorough Archive research. Author based on family information reveals the story of his relative Jaroslava Sommer, who fought in the Second World War in the West. His actions in the Czechoslovak army are so interesting that it certainly deserve attention and detailed historical research. The thesis focuses on Jaroslava Sommers life milestones, that are placed in historical context. By using the obtained materials leads to the conclusion that the key factor that significantly influenced Sommers life, was joining to foreign resistance. Especially his stay in the West, which was the pretense for his departure from the army and the subsequent persecution by the communist regime, can be regarded as decisive. The theme of the thesis is rewarding not only from the perspective of a specific family history, but also allows us to open up issues concerning contemporary context. The fate of one soldier helps bring complicated phase of czechoslovakian, but also international history in the first half of the twentieth century.
